Iris is an Android attempt at Siri

Android users, in case you might be a bit jealous of iPhone 4S users and their ability to use the voice assistant Siri, fret not as it looks like an Android app called Iris is hoping to accomplish the same thing as Siri.

Much like Siri, Iris will allow users to have “conversations” with it, meaning you will be able to throw Iris a bunch of questions, ranging from factual questions to jokes. If you think that sounds rather good, the impressive thing is that Narayan Babu and his team took only 8 hours to complete the development of the app. According to TechCrunch the app itself is rather sparse, but that’s only natural given that it took them 8 hours to complete it.

It is expected to hit the Android Market some time this week, which means hopefully by then more features and functionality will be added to it when it arrives. No word on whether it will be free or if users will have to pay for it.
