iPad 3’s display is a challenge for manufacturers

Apple's Retina Display

With the iPad 2 skipping out on Retina Display, it’s more than likely that Apple will be using that display for the iPad 3. With tablets in the market sporting AMOLED displays and whatnot, if the iPad 3 is hoping to achieve the same amount of success as its predecessor, a Retina Display would be what keeps fans from revolting against Apple and make them buy the product.

However as it turns out, Apple wants to step it up with an even larger resolution for the iPad 3, with sources claiming that Apple has plans for a 2048×1536 display. Production is planned for November but mass producing displays of that quality could be an issue, and if this affects their launch schedule, Apple could instead settle for a resolution of 1600×1200, which is still pretty impressive.
