iOS 5 is a battery drainer

Did you recently update your iPhone to the latest iOS 5? If you did, you may or may not have noticed that your phone’s battery life isn’t what it used to be, but fret not as this appears to be an issue many are currently facing.

iOS 5 is a battery drainer, which apparently was evidenced back during its beta. It was naturally assumed that Apple would address this issue but it looks like that is not the case. This is due to the multiple communication features in iOS 5 that requires a connection to the internet often, thus causing the battery to drain faster than usual.

There’s no real fix at the moment, although you can turn off several of Apple’s services like GPS geolocation, iCloud Sync, certain push notifications, etc. Considering that these are features as opposed to a real bug, we can’t be sure if Apple will be addressing this issue any time soon.
