Dual-core, LTE Windows Phones in the works

If you’ve been following the news surrounding the release of Windows Phone 7.5 devices, you’ll realize that in terms of hardware specs, the majority of WP7 devices don’t seem to pack quite as much punch as some of the higher end Android phones. Namely they seem to be lacking in the dual-core and LTE department, but apparently this is in the works.

According to Andy Lees who is head of the Windows Phone division, LTE and dual-core WP7 devices are being worked on. The reason that current handsets do not sport dual-core processors yet is because the OS and the apps have yet to take advantage of the second core. As for LTE, going along the same lines as Apple’s reasonings, the reason why there has yet to be an LTE WP7 handset is due to LTE being a battery drainer, although the Redmond company has not discounted either feature yet.
