Apple acquires C3 Technologies, iMaps in the works?

While the Maps application on iOS is a useful app, it has yet to see an update, which seems to have been at the mercy of Google for the past several years. While Android phones have been enjoying update maps and services, the Maps application on the iOS has been largely left untouched, but hopefully things will change.

A while back it was suggested that Apple could have acquired C3 Technologies, a mapping company, and that the possibility of an iMaps (or whatever Apple calls it) app for iOS only was there. Looks like it’s not too huge a stretch of the imagination after all as it seems that Apple’s acquisition of C3 Technologies has been confirmed via various sources.

The company uses formerly classified missile targeting technology to achieve 3D mapping, which hopefully is a feature that we will be able to see in the next build of iOS.
