Sprint planning on increase upgrade fee

Bad news Sprint customers! If you’ve been meaning to upgrade your existing phone, it looks like the carrier will be increasing their upgrade fee from $18 to $36! However if you have multiple lines and would like to upgrade all of them, Sprint will apparently cap the upgrading fee at $150.

Previously when Sprint announced that they will be increasing the penalty on breaking contracts, we assumed that it was their way of trying to keep their customers around. Now with this increase in upgrade fee, it seems like they may scare away a few customers. Some are speculating that perhaps the rumors of Sprint getting the iPhone 5 is the reason for the hike in upgrade fee, given that there will be a good many people looking to make the upgrade to the iPhone 5.
