Samsung Galaxy S2 not allowed to advertise as “world’s thinnest smartphone”

It looks like Samsung can’t catch a break when it comes to dealing with Apple! The Samsung Galaxy S2 is no doubt a popular Android handset, and a pretty thin one to boot and it seems that recently in the UK, Samsung tried to pass off a request to the UK Advertising Standards Authority that would allow Samsung to advertise the Galaxy S2 as the “world’s thinnest smartphone”.

Rather lofty claims, but when taking a look at the device there is without doubt it is pretty darn thin. Unfortunately due to certain parts of its design and the ASA’s measuring process, it ended up measuring at 9.9mm, which was thicker than the iPhone 4’s 9.3mm. Looks like another victory for Apple.
