Japanese alarm clock app tweets embarrassing messages if you hit snooze

It appears that in Japan, public shaming is especially humiliating for their culture, so while other cultures out there may focus on what you did wrong, Japanese culture appears to be the opposite, instead caring about what other people think (i.e. what will neighbors/relatives/peers think). An app for iOS called OKITE plays into that fear of public shaming.

The app is at the very heart an alarm clock, but what it does is that should you be tempted to hit the snooze button, it will instead send out an embarrassing tweet to your Twitter account with silly, self-deprecating messages. Granted you have the choice of using the app but we guess it’s catered for those who may need that little motivational push to get them out of bed. The app appears to be free but unfortunately it’s only available in Japanese.
