Are you looking forward to getting your hands on Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich? With iOS 5 coming up and Windows Phone 7’s Mango already making its rounds, Android definitely needs to get their latest platform up and running if they hope to remain competitive.

While previously we knew that Ice Cream Sandwich has been planned for a release some time towards the end of the year, we now know more specifically as to when Google plans to release the update. It was revealed by Eric Schmidt himself, and he was quoted as saying:

“We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about.”

With October being about three weeks away, we’re guessing that November or late October seems like a more likely release, but even then it may take a while for the updates to hit non-Nexus devices. Either way, Android users out there, are you guys excited?
