Dell to adopt Baidu Yi for some of their products

Only yesterday we reported that China’s Baidu announced that they will be coming up with  their own mobile platform, the Baidu Yi. Technically it isn’t really their own platform as it is based off Android, and rather ironically it will be Android whom they will be competing with in the China market.

While the success of the Baidu Yi platform remains to be seen, it seems that Dell has taken a leap of faith by committing themselves to creating a Baidu Yi tablet. It appears that Dell may be resurrecting the Dell Streak 5 for use as their Baidu Yi product. No word on when the tablet may be launched, but sources are claiming that it may be some time in November.

It also seems unlikely that the tablet will be making its way out of China, unless of course it achieve phenomenal success. Perhaps then we may start seeing Baidu Yi based products make its way into the US market.
