Blackberry Playbook prices slashed in the US

Just yesterday, Amazon’s new tablet, the Kindle Fire was announced and it looks like those rumors of a low price point turned out to be true. For a mere $199 you will be able to get your hands on the Amazon Kindle Fire come November 15th. With such a low price point, it will be hard for other tablets to compete which is why RIM has decided to slash their Blackberry Playbook prices in the US to $299 for the base model.

This move isn’t new as earlier this week, RIM had slashed the Playbook prices back in Canada, but it looks like those living in the US will be able to get their hands on the tablet for a lot cheaper than it previously was. The new prices can be found on Best Buy’s website, with the 16GB model dropping to $299 from $499, the 32GB dropping to $399 from $599 and the 64GB dropping to $499 from $699.

If you’re interested in getting your hands on more affordable Playbooks, head on down to Best Buy’s website for more information.
