ViewSonic ViewPad 7x delayed for Honeycomb 3.2

Were you excited about the ViewSonic ViewPad 7x when it was announced? If you were, you were probably excited at the thought of being able to get your hands on the device come mid-August, but it looks like you might be in for a disappointment although that depends on how you look at it.

As it turns out the device will not be arriving mid-August as it was initially expected to, but rather it would be arriving some time in September. Now before you get all upset, the good news is that the delay is because ViewSonic decided that since Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 was released, instead of shipping the tablet with Honeycomb 3.1, they thought that it might please users if it came with the latest version of Honeycomb 3.2 instead. For those wondering what 3.2 will be bringing to the table:

  • Optimizations / refinements across a wider range of tablets including 7 inch
  • Compatibility Zoom
  • Load media directly from a removable SD card
  • Extended screen support API

I guess that extra wait of one month might not be such a bad thing after all, right?
