Twitter rolls out HTML5 web-based app for iPad

Thanks to the power and flexibility of HTML5, web-based apps are starting to become as good, if not better, than their native app counterparts. Some users prefer web-based apps too since they surf continuously and would like to be able to access their apps without having to minimize their browser and that is what Twitter has done with their HTML5 web-based app for the iPad.

The web-based app will support gestures and see related information in the sidebar. Given that Twitter is a social networking tool, it makes sense to have it open and at the ready while you surf so you can share links and your thoughts readily.

Given that it is HTML5, this means that Android and Blackberry Playbook users will also be able to access the web-based application. However since it was optimized for the iPad, Android and Playbook users could run into some template display issues. While we’re sure that Twitter does have plans to eventually roll out similarly optimized pages for Android and Playbook users, they have not mentioned any specific date.
