TI OMAP to be first processor to support Ice Cream Sandwich

Looking forward to seeing what the upcoming version of Android can do? If all goes according to plan, it seems that Ice Cream Sandwich could be seeing a release by the end of 2011. It seems like the perfect time given that iOS 5 and WP7’s Mango is expected to launch this fall which means that Android will need to put out something that will please the masses.

While the inevitability of Ice Cream Sandwich needs not to be questioned, the question that should be asked is which processor will be the first to be used for Ice Cream Sandwich. As it turns out the processor in question could very well be Texas Instruments’s OMAP, at least that’s what some are speculating thanks to the picture above which was sent out by Texas Instruments themselves.

Given that the Blackberry Playbook (which is running on OMAP) is a pretty decent piece of hardware (native apps not withstanding), it could be a processor worthy of being the first to run Ice Cream Sandwich. What do you guys think?
