When Google had originally commissioned phone manufacturers to create the line of Nexus phones, they had planned to give every manufacturer an opportunity to bid for the chance to build the Nexus device.

First up was HTC with the first Nexus device, followed by Samsung who produced the Nexus S, and there have been rumors that LG and Motorola might be next in line to produce the third Nexus device. Given the recent Google acquisition of Motorola many had assumed that Motorola would be given the privilege to produce the next Nexus device, but as it turns out there are new rumors surrounding the third phone in the Nexus series.

It seems that the rumors are pointing at Samsung who will be producing the third Nexus device and it will be called the Nexus Prime. According to the rumors, the device will be running on the latest version of Android – Ice Cream Sandwich, and will feature a 4.5” Super AMOLED display with apparent 720p quality display, or so the rumors are claiming.

The rumors are also saying that the device will feature a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, although we’re surprised that it won’t be featuring NVidia’s Kal-El quad-core processor, but then again these are rumors so they’re best taken with a pinch of salt. So what do you guys think?
