Motorola not guaranteed to be making future Nexus devices

As most of you should know by now, Google has announced that they will be acquiring Motorola Mobility for a whopping $12 billion, which in turn will net them tons of patents, not to mention it will probably help with Android fragmentation, for Motorola users at least.

Naturally some had assumed since Google will own Motorola Mobility that the future of Google Nexus Android handsets will come from Motorola, but it seems that Google is still keeping the spirit of competition alive and well.

According to Andy Rubin, Motorola will still be required to place their bids just like everyone else, and that Motorola Mobility, which will be owned by Google, will still be run as if it was a separate business. I guess this is good news for other handset manufacturers who were hoping to bid for the opportunity to create Nexus devices.
