HP to discontinue webOS tablets and phones

Published

In what seems like shocking news, HP announced that they would be discontinuing operations of their webOS devices, more specifically, the TouchPad and webOS phones. It seems that in Australia the TouchPad has been quietly killed, after only just four days after it has been put on sale. We’re not sure how customers who paid $499-$599 for the webOS tablet must be feeling, but we can imagine that they are definitely not pleased.

This is indeed rather shocking as HP had announced a couple of days ago that they had plans to expand webOS into other gadgets such as household appliances and into vehicles. It looks like that $1.8 billion they spent to acquire Palm and its webOS platform might have been in vain.

There goes the end of an era, any webOS users who are sad to hear this news?
