AT&T ups their voice mail security

Published

on

For those who have not been following the scandal surrounding one of Rupert Murdoch’s publications, it has been reported that the publication allegedly hacked into the voicemails of several murder victims in order to gain information which was used in their stories. While data mining is probably not illegal, we’re pretty sure that hacking is, which is why AT&T has ramped up their voice mail security by requiring you to set a password.

Oddly enough it appears that this feature is only available for new subscribers and current users will have to wait until next year until they upgrade their handsets. If you don’t think that passwords are necessary or if you don’t even use voice mail, the option of not having a password is still open to you.
