911 operators to be able to send/receive MMS

Working as a 911 operator must be stressful, especially knowing that someone’s life could depend on you giving the correct instructions and acting swiftly.

In a bid to catch up with current technology, it seems that 911 operators will now be able to receive/send MMS. We’re guessing that this should help with providing the street names or landmarks, and it could also allow the 911 operators to send instructions to the person i.e. correct CPR technique, checking for a pulse, etc.

No word on when the FCC will be rolling out this new service, but it sounds promising and could possibly help increase the overall effectiveness.
