4G Blackberry Playbook not coming to Sprint

Bad news Sprint users, if you were hoping to get your hands on the 4G version of the Blackberry Playbook, it seems that Sprint has decided not to go ahead with their plans after all.

It was originally announced in January that Sprint would be launching the 4G tablet, but it seems that according to a mutual understanding that has been reached between RIM and Sprint, the 4G tablet will not be arriving after all.

According to RIM, the reason behind this move was because RIM wanted to focus on 4G LTE development, instead of launching a 4G WiMax tablet on Sprint’s network instead. While that may be true, we can’t help but feel that the fact that the Blackberry Playbook isn’t doing as well as RIM had hoped could be an contributing factor. The good news is that the WiFi version of the Playbook is still available from Sprint.
