Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray up for pre-order and will ship by August 15th

We know that Sony Ericsson has recently announced a couple of new handsets, and one of them was the Xperia Ray. For those who forgot, the Xperia Ray will feature a 8.1MP camera along with a 3.3-inch display that is powered by the mobile Bravia engine (similar to the Xperia arc). It will be running on a 1GHz processor and will feature the latest Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system.

For those living in the UK, it looks like online retailer Play.com has the device up for pre-order, unlocked, and is priced at 350 GBP which roughly translates to about $563. While Sony Ericsson has indeed planned for a Q3 release of their new devices, no specific date has been mentioned other than August 15th on Play.com, which means if they do indeed start shipping out by August 15th, we could be seeing similar release dates for the rest of the world.

The price should be cheaper when it comes to the States as we’re guessing it will be available on contract, although given its specs we probably shouldn’t be expecting that high of a price.
