iPhone 5 to use Bluetooth 4.0 instead of NFC?

For those who have been following iPhone 5 rumors, you guys should be familiar with some of the rumors that are saying that Apple may be adopting NFC technology in their next-generation iPhone. There has been no real evidence or any indication that Apple is remotely interested in NFC, in fact, Apple has a way of doing things that makes sure that they do it differently from everyone else. While everyone was using USB, Apple decided to introduce Firewire in their Mac computers instead, and when USB 3.0 came out, Apple went the Thunderbolt route.

Well now the rumors are saying that Apple may give up the idea of NFC in favor of Bluetooth 4.0, which was found in their new range of MacBook Air and Mac Mini computers. Some believe this might be possible due to the low power consumption that is used in Bluetooth 4.0, which should be enough to perform transactions without draining the device’s battery. Also the fact that Bluetooth requires no new infrastructure will make it easily adoptable as opposed to NFC.

Should be pretty interesting if it is true, and it ought to give Google Wallet a run for their money.
