HTC Desire S gets updated by Vodafone Europe

Vodafone Europe has recently released an update for the HTC Desire S which was more about bug fixes rather than bringing new features. They’re calling this “an Android platform update to Gingerbread 2.3″, however just to clarify, the HTC Desire S came shipped with Gingerbread 2.3, so this is just an update which addressed a couple of bugs that users had been experiencing.

A new maintenance release for the HTC Desire S is now available to our customers. This update is an Android platform update to Gingerbread 2.3 and introduces a number of fixes and improvements, including:

When receiving an SMS the sender is displayed correctly.

Uploading of pictures using Peep (Twitter for HTC Sense) improved.

Desk Dock mode support added.

Call stability and performance improvements.

Users ought to now have their software updated to 1.47.161.2 after the update. This is apparently a dual-staged process, where the first update is required to be installed before the second update can be downloaded and updated too.
