Apple settles location tracking lawsuit in Korea for $945

Remember it wasn’t too long ago where companies like Google and Apple were questioned over the issue about location privacy? For those who forgot, prior to iOS 4.3.3, user location data was inadvertently collected including things like longitude, latitude and even time stamps. Naturally this did not sit well with many users who were further shocked to find out that the data was not even encrypted, and could be accessed on any machine that you have synched your iOS device with.

Well not it looks like Apple has paid for their mistake when they were sued by a Korean iPhone user for violating his privacy. The price? 1 million Won which roughly translates to about $945. We’re not sure how the court managed to arrive on that figure, but it seems awfully low and we’re guessing his lawyer fees probably cost a lot more than that.

Apple has yet to comment on their settlement in Korea.
