Android Gingerbread 2.3 to come to HTC Desire Z by the end of the month

Good news HTC Desire Z users, as the Android Gingerbread 2.3 will officially be making its way to you “in the coming weeks”. The update is long overdue as it was announced back in February, with other devices such as the HTC Desire HD and the Incredible S getting the update before the Desire Z.

The testing of the update is apparently nearly complete and HTC is hopeful that the update should be rolling out to Desire Z owners by the end of July. Let’s hope that there aren’t any unforeseen delays and that the update will arrive on time. Alternatively, if you’re too impatient and not a fan of vague release dates, there are probably Gingerbread 2.3 ROMs out there for the HTC Desire Z, which you will be able to get your hands on if you choose to go that route, otherwise another couple of weeks of waiting won’t hurt.
