Verizon’s iPad 2 Being Recalled?

Published

on

As if the iPad 2’s shortages weren’t a problem, now it looks like Verizon is recalling a few of their iPad 2’s, further adding to the current shortage of stock. Some possibility of the recall may involve some connection issues especially when users with the 3G version of the iPad 2 attempt to connect to Verizon’s 3G network, as numerous complaints on forums have been popping up.

According to an Apple Store employee who told 9to5 Mac:

“Apple has given all the stores a list of serial numbers to scan, if it’s a match we were told to set aside and ship back to Apple, these are only for Verizon iPads. This was to be done on Monday and continue to scan all shipments thru June 11. I had over one hundred to send back.”

Apparently the issue is device specific not software specific, as I am sure there are probably other Verizon customers out there on iPad 2’s with no problems. No word from Apple regarding this issue but it looks like if you were hoping to get your hands on a Verizon iPad 2, you may very well have to wait.
