Sony Ericsson Launches Xperia Ray And Xperia Active

Sony Ericsson fans it looks like you will be able to have a wider selection of Sony Ericsson Android smartphones to choose from come Q3 this year. Sony Ericsson has recently announced in Singapore two brand new Sony Ericsson Xperia phones that we can expect later this year with the Xperia Ray and the Xperia Active.

The Xperia Ray will feature a 8.1MP camera along with a 3.3-inch display that is powered by the mobile Bravia engine (similar to the Xperia arc). It will be running on a 1GHz processor and will feature the latest Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system.

The Xperia Active on the other hand, as the name would imply, is aimed at a more “active” or sporty crowd since it is both dustproof and waterproof, which we’re guessing is great for the outdoors. It too runs on a 1GHz processor and comes with Android’s Gingerbread and will feature a 5MP camera. No word on pricing just yet but we’re guessing more will be revealed further down the line. Apart from looking rather sleek and cool, specs wise we can’t say they’re terribly interesting so we’ll have to say that it’ll probably be a mid-range priced device.
