Samsung Galaxy S 2 To Get A 200MHz Boost?

As it stands the Samsung Galaxy S II is pretty speedy as it is, but now new rumors have surfaced. The rumor is saying that Samsung will be launching a newer version of the Galaxy S II, except this time instead of the 1.2GHz processor, it will get a speed increase of 200MHz, making it 1.4GHz. There won’t be any new hardware changes as it will still be using the same SoC Exynos.

Some are speculating that this bump in speed is due to the rumors surrounding Apple’s next generation iPhone, which many have speculated to be running on the same A5 dual-core processors featured on the iPad 2. We’re not sure if current Samsung Galaxy S II will be getting in on the 200MHz speed bump action, although we’re guessing there’s a chance they could be, since this is just a software update rather than a change in hardware.

Either way, as with all rumors, it’s best taken with a pinch of salt, although a 1.4GHz Samsung Galaxy S II should make it an interesting competition, although we’d hardly call it an iPhone killer.
