RIM Is Leading The Smartphone Market In Canada

Published

on

In terms of smartphones, Apple and Android both have been dominating the market, with RIM experiencing a rather steady decline in the recent years, bringing them to somewhere on par with Apple, who had a later headstart than them. Those statistics are based in the US.

However, it seems that in Canada RIM has been doing rather well for themselves. According to a market research firm ComScore Inc., RIM is holding a 42% market share, somewhere along the same figure that Android is holding back in the States. It’s quite strange to see such a huge disparity in the figures considering both countries are almost practically neighbours!

Do we have any Canadian readers that might be able to shed some light on why RIM is doing so well in Canada compared to both Apple and Android? Do Canadians prefer Blackberry devices over iPhones and Android?
