Play Dead App Lets You Trick Your Friends Into Thinking Your iPhone Is Dead

Do you have friends on feature phones or perhaps other platforms that can’t stop touching your iPhone? They will take your phone, maybe even persuade you to buy a game for them to play because they heard it’s so much fun. When you do, they hog your phone the entire night, draining its battery, plugging it in to charge while playing, and you just don’t know if your phone will explode from all that abuse.

Sometimes saying no is not nice, and if you’re one of those people who just find it incredibly hard to say no, then perhaps this app will help you out with that. It’s called Play Dead and it makes your iPhone look like it’s, well, dead. The shutdown loop, as pictured to the right will show up on the screen instead. Best of all, it’s free, so the next time an annoying little cousin or friend wants to borrow your iPhone again, turn the app on, show it to them and say “Sorry, my phone’s on the fritz!”

Personally having used the app myself, I have to admit it looks convincing, until they press the “Home” button and your iPhone “magically” works again. Then again there’s always the mantra that sharing is caring.
