Orange UK Has A Shirt That Let’s You Charge Your Phone With

Orange UK, in conjunction with the Glastonbury Festival this summer has released a t-shirt that allows you to charge your phone by sound waves! The t-shirt features a Piezoelectric film embedded in the front which can absorb sound waves, converting it to electrical current that is then stored in the batteries woven into the shirt. All the user will need to do is plug their phone into their shirt (I never thought I’d be saying that) and charge their phone.

Given that it will be available at the Glastonbury Festival we’re going to guess that there will be tons of sound waves to be absorbed. The shirt will be capable of charging up to 2 regular phones or 1 smartphone over the course of the weekend, which is an incredibly long time to take to charge your phone which makes the shirt a novel concept rather than a genuine viable alternative, although we’re guessing some battery is better than none.
