Nuance Found Hidden In iOS 5?

Published

on

During Apple’s WWDC keynote speech we realized that there was no mention on voice recognition technology despite the rumors flying around about Apple’s deal with Nuance and Siri to provide a more enhanced version of voice recognition technology than their current version. Later it was speculated that the technology Apple was working on with Nuance and Siri was not ready yet which is why it did not make its way into iOS 5 and the keynote speech.

However as it turns out, further digging in the developer version of the iOS 5 beta uncovered what looked like settings for Nuance, as you can see in the picture on the right. Not much is known about those features at the moment but apparently the complexity of the voice recognition technology is so complex that it would require Apple’s iCloud datacenters in North Carolina to handle the processing.

Either way for those who have been hoping for a more complex voice recognition technology in the iOS it looks like you might have gotten your wish. More on this as it develops.
