Blackberry has their Blackberry Messenger, Apple has iMessage now, closest thing Android has is probably Whatsapp, and now it looks like Nokia is introducing their own IM services which would allow for free texting between you and your friends on Nokia devices as long as you have a WiFi or 3G connection, as long as they either Ovi Mail account, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and MySpace IM installed. I guess it’s not completely like BBM, iMessage or Whatsapp but it’s a decent alternative.
At the moment the IM for Nokia is available for the Nokia X6, Nokia 5230, Nokia N8, Nokia E7 and a couple of others although future Nokia devices are expected to come with the app installed. No word on whether this app is free but just head on down to the Ovi Store for more information.
