Nokia Play Speakers Use NFC To Sync With Your Phone

During the Nokia Connection event, not only was the Nokia N9 announced but there were several other accessories announced and one of them were some speakers that utilized NFC technology that comes in the Nokia N9 to sync with the phone in order to play your music wirelessly. We’re not sure why they chose to add NFC on top of tried and tested methods such as bluetooth, perhaps it was a way for them to showcase the N9’s NFC capabilities and for a way for Nokia N9 users to feel special.

The speakers are also omnidirectional and it works on rechargeable batteries and can get up to 20 hours of use in a single charge. The bad news is probably the price of the speakers coming in at $213 for ONE speaker, meaning if you’re hoping to get a stereo effect a pair of these speakers would easily set you back $426, although we’re guessing thanks to the omnidirectional features you won’t really need a pair of these speakers. The speakers are expected to be available come Q3 this year.
