No Nokia Tablets In Sight?

Published

While Windows 8 does look good, and it does look rather promising in terms of a platform for tablets, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said that unless Nokia comes up with a tablet that they know for sure will beat the iPad, we won’t be seeing Nokia tablets hitting the market any time soon.

His reasoning? Apparently 201 tablets are about to hit the market and soon and while some of them are rather interesting and have pretty good hardware specifications such as the Motorola Xoom, Blackberry Playbook, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the iPad is still the tablet to beat, and Nokia does not plan to be tablet number 202. Granted the tablet scene is exploding right now and logically it would make sense for Nokia to jump aboard the bandwagon but what their CEO has said makes perfect sense.

As it stands Nokia isn’t doing so well in the smartphone market and their anticpated Windows Phone 7 devices have yet to hit the market, so perhaps when Nokia has started to gain back their momentum and reputation, then perhaps they might start looking into pushing out tablet devices.
