Motorola Unlocks The Atrix 4G’s Bootloader And Brings Gingerbread Update

Not too long ago we reported that thanks to petitions, Motorola started considering whether they should unlock their bootloaders, which was later followed up by Motorola saying they had still yet to unlock the bootloaders on their devices but said that they were working on it. Now with what looks like a double whammy, Motorola has gone ahead and unlocked the bootloader for the Motorola Atrix 4G, which will be coming together with the Gingerbread update.

Still there’s yet another hurdle to cross as AT&T may or may not allow the unlocked bootloader to come along with the update, although for those who are savvy enough there are ways around to it; flashing the ROM to the device and then proceeding to unlock the bootloader.

Just a quick recap, the Motorola Atrix 4G features a 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 5MP rear camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage while running on Android’s Froyo 2.2 and sprorting 4-inch LCD display.
