iPhone 4 Still The Most Popular Phone With Operators

Say what you will about the smartphone market and how Android is dominating with over 40%, and also how there are more Android devices being shipped compared to Apple’s iPhone, but in terms of operator favorites, it looks like Apple’s iPhone 4 is still the golden child, as evidenced in the bar graph above. It seems that Apple’s iPhone 4 appears the most frequent in operator’s portfolios according to the latest statistics.

This is the first time that an iPhone device has come out on top but in the process has toppled RIM’s Blackberry Bold 2 9700 from the top position. Apple fans do not be so quick to rejoice because these stats just indicate how many carriers are actually stocking the devices, not actually how many of the devices are selling, because based on our earlier reports, Android is still leading the way in smartphone market share. Shouldn’t it make more sense that if they’re stocking more product that they’re expecting more people to buy it, but yet Android still has the lead? Interesting.
