iOS 5 Allows FaceTime Over 3G?

One of the gripes that people had with the iPhone 4  was that you could not use FaceTime over your 3G connection, only WiFi and the reasoning behind it was that FaceTime over 3G would just eat too much into data usage and may not prove to be fast enough for a good experience. This issue was apparently resolved for those who jailbroke their iPhone 4’s and tricked FaceTime into thinking that they had a WiFi connection, thus allowing calls over 3G.

Good news for those who are unwilling or have not yet jailbroken their iPhone’s because if the rumors are true, iOS 5 will be allowing FaceTime calling over 3G. Apparently in the developer build, an error message appears that reads”Turn on cellular data or use Wi-Fi to use FaceTime,” which might have led to the belief that iOS 5 will allow users to make FaceTime calls over 3G networks, either that or they’re preparing iOS 5 for a possible LTE enabled iPhone which by all accounts should make the FaceTime experience a lot smoother than 3G.
