Huawei Preparing Two Tablets For India

Huawei has been making a name for themselves in China and now it looks like they want to make a name for themselves in India too. They have been successful with their Ideos range of lowcost Android smartphones but now they are planning to introduce two new tablets that have been specifically designed with India in mind.

These tablets are aimed to be launched in the third quarter of 2011 with content that has been customized for their Indian customers. The specifications of the tablets are still unknown but some have speculated that they will be of the 7-inch variety and will probably be running on the Android operating system, which version we’re not too sure but we’re hoping to see the Honeycomb 3.2 version which has been optimized for 7-inch tablets in mind.

Pricewise the budget model of the two tablets will cost less than $450 (INR 20,000) while the flagship version will be priced at $550 (INR 25,000) which is still $100 less than the iPad’s price in India. While other more developed countries may not appreciate Huawei’s budget offerings compared to high end tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Motorola Xoom and iPad 2, it’s good to know that Huawei is still developing for countries that may not be able to afford such high end tablets.
