HTC To Release Update That Unlocks Sensation 4G’s Bootloader

HTC made a pretty big step a couple weeks ago by saying that they won’t be locking their bootloaders in the future which was extremely well received the developer and modder community. Now just to confirm what HTC said was true and not just a load of hot air to garner some publicity, some of the members at XDA Developers, a community of Android hackers and developers, have sent an email to HTC asking about the bootloader on the HTC Sensation 4G, which will be HTC’s first dual-core Android device that will be featuring a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon process, Android Gingerbread 2.3, 768MB of RAM, 8MP camera capable of 1080p video recording, and 1.2MP front facing camera.

Such a powerful device, it’s no wonder really that the guys at XDA Developers want to get their hands on the unlocked bootloader ASAP! Turns out HTC did not disappoint and replied by saying:

“We are currently developing new bootloader unlocked software for your phone. HTC is still committed to allowing our customers to unlock the bootloaders if they wish, however we are still implementing the policy and many updates were already finalized prior to our change in policy. We apologize for the inconvenience, but be assured that we are working on a solution for our customers and our commitment has not changed. Please stay tuned to our official channels for ongoing updates on how we will be implementing this policy. Thank you for your patience.”

While nothing has been done just yet it’s good to know that HTC is still going ahead with their decision, hopefully this will further placate the modder community.
