Get Google Maps On The Blackberry Playbook

Google Maps is already available on the Blackberry Playbook but it is only viewable through the browser and by no means is that a bad thing, in fact Google Maps runs just fine on the browser, but for those who are looking for a dedicated app for Google Maps may try their hand at downloading MapApp.

There are some reports that it does not run as smooth as the browser version of Google Maps but it does make use of the Blackberry Playbook’s GPS. There have been several reports that while attempting to use MapApp in street view has caused the app to hang a couple of times so unless you really need a dedicated map app then perhaps sticking to the browser version of Google Maps is still the best solution, at least for now.

However if you’re interested in checking the app out just head on down to App World for the download. Who knows, perhaps future versions of the app will fix the hangs and improve the performance, but until then it’s a somewhat decent alternative to the browser version of Google Maps.
