Facebook iOS Photo App To Take Instagram On?

iOS users should be more than familiar with the Instagram app, even if they don’t use it they should be seeing posts by friends and family on their newsfeed, uploading photos to Instagram and sharing it on Facebook. I guess one of the appeals of Instagram is that it’s an external website much like Flickr so unlike Facebook, depending on your privacy settings, everyone can view your photos, and at the same time thanks to its integration with Facebook, let’s you publish your uploads to your friends’ newsfeed.

It seems that Facebook has been quietly working on something similar, there has been no announcements or fanfare but thanks to a leak there have been several photos of the app in action floating around the web. So what this app does is it brings the features of Instagram and Picplz (for Android) into one application and at the same time allows for geotagging and people tagging.

We’re going to guess that this will be integrated into Facebook itself but whether or not it will be a standalone app or part of the Facebook app remains uncertain. It is also unclear whether the photos taken with the app will be viewable by public or only for those you allow on Facebook. I wonder how Instagram and Picplz will be taking this news.
