Facebook 1.6 For Android Has Some Bugs

Published

on

Facebook 1.6 for Android brought about several new welcome features, but probably one of the not-so welcome features would be the fact that it seems to be draining quite a bit of battery. It’s apparently a bug and many Android users in the community have commented on the issue. Apparently the news feed constantly refreshes itself which in turn: a) uses up more battery than intended b) has impact on your data cap since it will constantly be fetching data to your phone c) makes it hard to view the news feeds as it is constantly refreshing itself.

It seems that uninstalling and reinstalling the app will be able to resolve this issue, although it does seem more work than necessary. We’re hoping that Facebook is listening to the feedback and push out an update soon to address this issue. Some other issues include the notifications system, which redirects the user to the mobile site instead of specific posts, although this seems largely limited to the Samsung Captivate. No word on how to fix that issue just yet.
