Dell Streak 10 Pro Goes To China

Dell’s success (or lack of success) in the US market with their Streak franchise is well known and it looks like Dell is looking to take their business, specifically the Dell Streak 10 Pro, to another country – China, at least initially. The Dell Streak 10 Pro will be launched in China this summer first followed by US markets some time later this year.

The Dell Streak 10 is Dell’s third tablet product and its first 10-inch Android-based tablet and it comes installed with Google’s Android Honeycomb 3.0, edge-to-edge glass, brushed aluminum back, a 1280-by-800 screen, front and rear facing cameras including a 5MP camera, full 1080p video playback, an SD slot, and an NVidia Tegra dual-core processor. Not too shabby by all accounts but according to one of Dell’s Vice Presidents, John Thode, the US market does not offer a viable 10-inch tablet strategy.

Amit Midha who is chairman of Dell Greater China was quoted as saying “China is the largest in the emerging market category and the second fastest-growing in the emerging market category. And China is also our second largest market right after the U.S. The China market in units may cross the U.S. in the next couple of years.”

Either way for those in the states it looks like we might have to wait if you are planning to get your hands on this tablet.
