Cameraphones No Threat To Dedicated Cameras

Before there were photography apps, back in the day phone manufacturers would be advertising their phone’s cameras by its megapixels, a still commonly used marketing tactic in today’s camera scene. In fact some phones came with such large megapixels that it made some point and shoot cameras look downright ancient.

In fact some people were starting to prefer to take their phones out to take photos instead of a dedicated camera. Pro photographers on the other hand probably knew about the marketing gimmick that was megapixels and knew that despite how many megapixels a phone’s camera could take, it would never beat a dedicated camera like a DSLR in terms of quality and speed and accuracy, if anything a good cameraphone would allow for impromptu photo taking with somewhat decent quality.

Masanobu Tsunoda, managing director of Nikon Malaysia and Singapore said that it was in thanks to cameraphones that helped to increase the sales in cameras.

“As long as everyone is enjoying taking pictures from their mobile phones, they (mobile phones) will help develop the photography culture and we believe that mobile phones are our friends,” he said in an interview with Bernama.
