Windows 8 Tablet To Be Unveiled In June?

Google and Apple have been dominating the tablet scene of late, not to mention the smartphone scene as well although with the Windows Phone 7 Mango update and the announcement of new partners, Microsoft is hoping to catch up, at least in terms of the smartphone market. So what about the tablet scene, what are Microsoft’s plans?

Well according to sources it seems that Microsoft is interested in laying a claim to that piece of tablet pie, and they plan to do that with the announcement of their brand new tablet OS, Windows 8. The All Things Digital D9 conference that is coming up next month will apparently mark the arrival of Microsoft’s new tablet operating system. There have been some leaked photos of the Windows 8 desktop operating system but this will be the first we’ve heard of the Windows 8 tablet operating system.

If you have been a tablet user in the past, you would know that the majority of tablet devices back in the day ran on Microsoft’s platform but with the entry of the iPad which made tablets seem more fun and consumer friendly, not to mention highly affordable, it seems that Microsoft’s tablets have been relegated to the wayside, or perhaps limited to the enterprise market. If the rumors are true, then perhaps we might see Microsoft fight their way back into the consumer tablet scene and give Android and Apple a run for their money.
