[Updated] What Happened To T-Mobile’s G2x?

So what happened to T-Mobile’s G2x? It seems that the phone is no longer listed on T-Mobile’s website and not because it’s out of stock. It seems highly unlikely that it has been discontinued either so what else could it be? Some have speculated that it could be due to the phone’s poor quality build which includes bad battery life, light bleeds, random reboots and freezes ever since the device was launched.

The Optimus 2X has had somewhat similar problems and LG has said that updates to fix that issue will be coming, so we can only assume that it will be the same for the G2x. Perhaps T-Mobile has pulled it off their website to prevent more users from encountering the same problems and give LG some time to fix it on their end. All we know is that T-Mobile has said that the upgrade to Gingerbread for the G2x will be coming “very soon”.

Users who have the device currently have no choice but to wait for the updates to come and there’s really not much they can do until then.

Update – Turns out that the device is currently unavailable due to high demand. An official statement by T-Mobile says:

The T-Mobile G2X with Google has been a highly popular device with both customers and employees since its launch last month, and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working with LG to address.
