Unlock Your iPhone With Your Face

If you thought how cool it was in the movies where devices could be unlocked by scanning your eyes, or voice recognition or facial recognition, it seems that now your iPhone is capable of unlocking itself by scanning your face.

This is limited to the iPhone 4 as it makes use of the front facing camera to do the facial recognition. The app is called RecognizeMe and it is only available for jailbroken iPhone 4’s, so if you ever needed another reason why you should jailbreak your iPhone 4 perhaps this is one of them.

Upon installation, RecognizeMe needs to be “trained” in order to fully recognize your face. When RecognizeMe can scan your face successfully, you can use the app to unlock your iPhone.

On your iPhone’s lock screen there is still the option to enter a password manually to unlock your device but with RecognizeMe, you now have the option of having your face scanned for verification instead. Not to worry if the facial recognition does not recognize you as you may still enter the password manually to gain access to your phone, so there’s really no need to worry about being locked out of your own phone.
