Unlock Your Door With This iPhone App

So in an article written earlier discussing the possibilities of NFC enabled devices there was a mention I made about how NFC devices could be used to unlock doors. Well in this case Apigy, the company that created Lockitron, took it one step further by allowing the user to unlock their doors remotely by replacing your door lock with an internet ready version.

The service works by using a plug server and ethernet cable tied to the electronic lock, and works with both deadbolt or handle locks. An approaching person simply texts the code to the unique web address, or uses the iPhone app, and can unlock or lock the door using encrypted data stored in the cloud.

An NFC version is also currently in the works and it is supposed to be supported by the Nexus S, future iPhone versions and devices which support NFC. While there are conveniences that come along with this app and device what about security? The chances of someone stealing your set of house keys seems less likely compared to someone stealing your phone, not only gaining access to your personal information but in this case, literally a set of keys to your house.
