Sprint delays Blackberry Playbook – Again

Bad news for those of you out there eagerly awaiting Sprint’s Blackberry Playbook; it’s been delayed yet again. Originally meant to be launched on the 19th of April, Sprint has pushed the launch date to the 8th of May, but now has announced that the Blackberry Playbook will be delayed yet again. This time around there was no announcement of a specific date when the Playbook would be available.

Could the delay be in building a CDMA version of the Playbook or is this a supply chain issue? Perhaps it is the general lack of enthusiasm that greeted the Playbook? Could it be that Sprint is holding out and waiting for AT&T to conclude their test of RIM’s bridge app before proceeding? Jared Newman at Technologizer seems to think that maybe the Playbook might not be worth Sprint’s resources considering the influx of tablet devices to hit the market and not to mention Verizon is still sitting on the fence regarding the Playbook.

All we know now is that according to an internal Sprint-dealer memo found on BriefMobile the rescheduled date “will be communicated as soon as it is available.”
